The American Cancer Society has so far raised more than $1.3 million at its annual Bike-a-thon from Philadelphia to Atlantic City, New Jersey. A total of 3,468 riders on 211 teams participated in the 67.5-mile-long ride on June 11, including attorney Richard A. Jaffe of Law Offices of Richard A. Jaffe, LLC. Jaffe participated in the ride in memory of his mother, Joan, who passed away in 2014, after a 14-year battle with Colon Cancer.
This year marks the 8th year attorney Jaffe has participated in the Bike-a-thon and has so far raised well over $10,000 to help cancer research. "I believe strongly in this cause and doing what I can on a personal level to help support the American Cancer Society," Jaffe said. "Our family is not the only one that has been affected by cancer. This disease can strike anyone, at any time. And the more we can do to defeat cancer, the better."
As of June 28, the Bike-a-thon has raised $1,302,724.14 for the American Cancer Society. Donations for the ride will continue to be accepted until Aug. 31. To donate to the Bike-a-thon or for more information, visit the following web address: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/richardjaffe
